This piece is not only a set of armchairs — it’s a flexible system of modular seating designed with poetic restraint and architectural clarity.

The Saghi armchairs were designed by Kazuhide Takahama for Gavina in the 1970s. Understated and elegant, they feature a sleek chromed metal frame paired with lush, deep green velvet upholstery — a contrast that captures Takahama’s refined, East-meets-West design language.

The chairs are fully modular and can be arranged individually or connected side by side to create a low-profile, minimalist sofa configuration, making them ideal for both residential and gallery-like interiors.

Their proportions are generous yet low-slung, with a sculptural backrest that subtly curves into the seat.

Dimensions: 76 × 60 × 64 cm (29.92 × 23.62 × 25.20 in)

Kazuhide Takahama (1930–2010) was a Japanese architect and designer who settled in Italy and became one of the most poetic voices in postwar European design. His collaborations with Dino Gavina resulted in a number of iconic pieces marked by clarity, proportion, and a sense of quiet elegance.
