Mid Century Modern Desk by Svend Aage Madsen

Svend Aage Madsen was best known for his sculptural writing desks. Many of his desk designs which is observed in this desk too, have an eye-catching curved surface that gives the desktop a concave appearance. They desk has tapered legs — a hallmark of mid-century modern style — and generous drawers for stationary and other objects. Deep wood finishes and visible wood grain add to the charm of these sturdy pieces.

Madsen has won several awards for his work, including the Gold Medal at the Milan Triennale in 1957 and the Lunning Prize in 1961. His work is considered part of the modern Danish design movement, which emerged in the 1950s and 1960s.
