The Iconic Burdick Group Desk by Bruce Burdick for Herman Miller, 1980s

An iconic Burdick Group desk designed by Bruce Burdick for Herman Miller, introduced in 1980 as a flexible workstation system designed to adapt to different ways of working. The system received awards from the Institute of Business Designers and IDSA in 1980 and was named by Time among the best industrial designs of 1981.

This example can be configured in two sizes: as a more compact rectangular glass desk, or extended with the additional semi-circular glass section for a larger asymmetric work surface. Other Burdick Group examples also use two semi-circular ends around a rectangular centre, illustrating how extensively the system could be configured.
